Moles and skin Cancer - analysis and removal
What are they?
  • Moles are harmless skin growths that vary in colour from pink flesh tones to dark brown or black.
  • Moles can appear at any time but usually develop in childhood
  • The amount of moles we have as individuals varies according to our genetic makeup
  • Moles are normally quite harmless but can be unsightly, particularly if they're on the face.

IMPORTANT : If you have a mole anywhere that changes colour or size, or starts to bleed, it is really important to get it checked by a GP.

What is involved?
  • Your mole will be examined carefully in order to determine the best method of treatment
  • Moles that are considered healthy are often removed using a short diathermy
  • This treatment takes only a few minutes and leaves virtually no scars
  • Suspicious moles are removed surgically and are sent to the lab for testing
Your results
  • You can expect the treated area to fully heal within a week
  • Your mole will not grow back once it has been removed.
